Where do I start?
There's a common challenge that early career change practitioners face when joining a project – and that is ‘where to start?’
The business case (or similar) is the place to gather information to start these change activities in the early discovery/initiate phase:
🟠 The change canvas, aka 'change on a page' - Shows change activity and intent, visual and easy to read
🟠 The early impact diagnostic - Sizes the change, identifies 'hot spots' for change effort
🟠 The change story - Simplifies the message so it resonates and is easy to understand, connects the WHY with the WHAT and the HOW
These tools are proven to gain traction, engage stakeholders early and invite co-creation and are designed to:
☑️ make it easy for you, saving a great deal of time
☑️ prompt conversations and collaboration with your stakeholders and end users
☑️ serve as an ongoing resource for reassurance and consistency
☑️ improve the change experience for the end user
☑️ deepen your own understanding of the change initiative
👉 𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 - you don't have to complete these before you kick off your conversations! The activity is the engagement these tools generate.
To make it easy, I’ve just created the 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗞𝗶𝘁 that contains templates and instructions for these three tools to get you started after you read the business case.
This kit has just been dropped in the curriculum content as part of three #changehacks online courses:
